Haptoclone - The Real Life Transmitter

The image above shows a simple inflated beach ball inside of a square shaped digital device that seem to have no purpose whatsoever. Obvious, isn't it?
This device is called a Haptoclone. It uses a combination of mirrors, ultrasound transmitters and an Xbox kinect that allows the illusion of touch to be projected. Quite impressive, ain't it?

The current version of the Haptoclone uses mirrors so the projection is limited to a very short distance, but if these were replaced with cameras and screens, then sight, sound and touch could be possibly transmitted around the world.
